Evolve, evolve, evolve with the customer. That mantra has powered Pete’s Sports and Repairs over the last 42 years. And they’re not stopping any time soon.
In many ways, everything’s changed since this London-based shop opened in 1978. But in all the ways that truly count, things are exactly the same: Pete’s puts the customer first, and reimagines the business based on client needs right here, right now.
That recipe works. Branching out from an initial base as a family shoe repair shop, Pete’s bridged to sporting goods repairs before finding a sweet spot manufacturing goalie equipment. By the mid-1980s, Pete’s was building brand across the hockey world, making goalie equipment for ‘up and comers’ (think Jeff Hackett and Craig Billington). They soon branched into skates, sticks and more. In the late 1990s, Pete’s was evolving again. Reading the market, they took a leap of faith into team wear, ultimately bringing their own cresting and embroidery equipment in-house to expand. They’ve since found their footing online, too, continuing to compete – and win – in a market that looks different year over year.
With pro shops in London, Komoka and Strathroy, Pete’s channels the power of the team’s collective experience into reading customer needs, aligning fresh ideas and delivering next-level service that only a shop local philosophy can bring.
In his own words: “We offer something unique. Our team’s been with us for decades, shaping this business for and with the community. We’re offering a different kind of shop local experience you just can’t get anywhere else. I’m really proud of the part we’ve played in this community over the years, and thankful for the chance to continue growing.”
Bet you didn’t know: If the glove fits! The year was 1993, and the World Series was in town. When the big city guys couldn’t do the job, Pete’s took their gear to Toronto and repaired a huge hole in the pocket of Pat Borders’ Decker baseball glove. The rest, as they say, is history.
Please remember to shop local.
