Customer experience is everything when you’re competing in an online world. That’s why Paul Giffin and his team provide a shop local experience that’s built for customer needs right here, right now.
An outsider might not have seen the connection between sporting goods and electronics; but Paul did. After successfully running a Sears outlet in Goose Bay for more than 15 years, he moved on when the brand closed shop, and transformed to continue bridging a gap for local customers. By bringing the world of hockey skates, baseball gear, soccer balls and bikes under the same 5,000 square foot roof as a range of leading electronics, Paul provided locals with a truly local shopping experience.
The goal was always simple: enable friends and neighbours with comprehensive service, and a real opportunity to test drive whatever they might need. Expanding into sporting goods marked a real departure for Paul. But it worked, proving there’s no comfort in the growth zone.
Opening shop local alternatives when a world of choice is just a click away takes courage. For Paul, it’s just table stakes. He believes locals deserve the kind of full-circle service that only in-person retailers can provide. And his team brings that idea to life for customers every single day.
In his own words: “Every member of our team is tied to the community in one way or another. We love serving the people here, and watching the young ones grow. We’re proud to be a part of the community.”
Bet you didn’t know: Play matters. That’s why Hometown Sports Excellence Goose Bay helps local teams come together through sports by providing kids’ uniforms.
Please remember to shop local.
